We are a team of researchers at the Schulich School of Business, York University. We are passionate about studying sustainable agriculture-related practices, businesses, and farmer livelihoods in the Global South.
Preet S. Aulakh
Professor of Strategy and International Business; Pierre Lassonde Chair in International Business
Preet Aulakh’s research focuses on understanding the challenges and opportunities in improving the economic well-being of marginal farmers in the Global South. He takes a two-pronged approach. One theme examines the historical and contemporary challenges of institutionalising the property rights of peasant cultivators. The second probes the interrelated aspects of crop diversification and marketing channel coordination in pursuing sustainable agriculture for small farmers.

Passionate about creating impact, Parin engages with corporate governance through the provincial legal system and is deeply interested in community-driven agriculture.

PhD Candidate at Schulich School of Business - York University
Diya Yang is a PhD candidate at the Schulich School of Business, York University. Her research looks at how businesses that combine profit goals with social or public missions—so-called “hybrid firms”—are governed. She focuses on how ownership, boards, and partnerships shape whether these firms succeed at balancing financial returns with social impact.

Jayabrata Basu is a computer science student and the developer and maintainer of this platform. He is passionate about leveraging technology to create tools and resources that support sustainable agriculture and research dissemination.
